MC Sharaqpur Sharif is
situated in the
Punjab province of Pakistan. It is located at 32km from Lahore, and
17 km from first exit of M2. It is very beautiful and flourishing
MC with different flowers, greenery, meadows and gardens of
different fruits. Sharaqpur Sharif is known as the city of Saints,
and is popular due to the presence of the shrine of Hazrat Mian
Sher MuhammadSharaqpuri born in 1282 AH., or 1865 AD, in
Sharaqpur (District Sheikhupura, Punjab). His father's name was Mian
Azizuddin. Mian Sher Muhammad was strict observer and preacher of
Quran and the Sunnah. He led a very simple life and blessed numerous
people including Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He died on Rabi-ul-Awwal 3,
1347 AH., or August 20, 1928 and was laid to rest in MC Sharaqpur. His
shrine is also present in the city's vicinity.
Government of Punjab has established new local government
system under the Punjab Local
Government Act (PLGA) 2013 after dissolving PLGO 2001. The
Chairman and Vice Chairman
have joined their offices and new local government system
has started functioning.
